Brave warrior Often running your race alone Without help until the finish line. And even then Voices of descent follow behind Many honour you for doing What they think but cannot follow through
You climb mountains And see the bigger view While those below in the valley Shout and argue That what you see above can't be true
Little do they know That you have moved Beyond the territory that they perceive To a bird's eye view That stretches into the distance
Medicine will not be the same Since you have blown open the door To a high fat diet And better health to so many
Thank you for not only living your truth But allowing us to share with you The magic of another way.

Bernard Brom qualified in medicine in 1965. He gave it up, travelled for six years, and came back to spend the next sixty asking one question: how does health actually work? He founded the South African Society of Integrative Medicine, chaired it, started its first journal, wrote two books — and still sees a few patients every week, "to stay in touch with the territory."
